Up on the blog today, we are taking interior design outside. Many of our followers are outdoor lovers so, we are featuring all the things you need to take it on the road this summer. Since quite a few of us are still worried about taking huge travel trips just yet, it will be The Summer of Glamping. While you can book a glamping holiday through a business that takes care of the all hard work for you - from set up to styling and even meals - you can easily create your own stylish set up with the right gear and few simple interior designer styling tricks.
Don’t forget the comforts of home
First of all, don't forget about your creature comforts. Once you’ve selected a campsite and tent, it’s time to get creative. Think about what will make your spot feel like home and pack in function, too: a doormat outside your tent can combat shuffling in dirt and debris, while a fluffy rug inside can soften a hard or uneven ground surface and brighten up the interior.

Figure out a “floor plan”
From there, consider “space zoning”—or sectioning off areas of your campsite. Make the interior of your tent a serene space for evening hangouts and sleep. Designate a nearby area for games and entertainment. Roll out an indoor/outdoor rug, and add a couple poufs for extra-plush lounging.

Add some sparkle
Once the sun sets, you’ll want good lighting to keep the fun going. Invest in rechargeable or solar-powered string lights. Wind them up tree trunks, weave them around your tent poles or drape them from branches to create a look all your own. And don’t forget lighting inside your tent. Twinkle lights can add a fun vibe to your setup. Just make sure to turn them off at some point, so you can enjoy the starry sky—the original night lights. How romantic, am I right?

Cue the entertainment
The best part about heading outdoors is that you don’t need much to have a good time. Consider bringing games like horseshoes, checkers, dominos or an easy-to-pack deck of cards. Or opt for one of these word games to keep your crew entertained. Are kids joining? Break out some glow sticks for after-dark fun. My personal go to would be the Tarot deck!

Redefine outdoor dining
Get creative with campout meals. Check whether you’ll have access to a grill at your campsite. If not, you can bring your own setup (like a two-burner stove, fuel and kitchen tools). From there, the sky’s the limit—think dishes, like berry cobbler or fire-grilled salmon. Bring some pre-made apps, too, such as savory dips or finger foods that you can easily reheat. Level up your mealtime with presentation: Pack a few serving platters and a tablecloth to drape over your picnic table. Just because you are not at home doesn't mean you should eat off of paper plates. And be eco-conscious at the same time.

Get ready for beauty rest
When you’re hiking to your campsite, the more lightweight and compact your belongings are, the better. When your car is carrying the load, the options are (nearly) endless. Pack your favorite pillow and blanket. If you have an inflatable mattress that packs easily in your car, bring it. If not, you can easily transform your sleeping bag into something a little cozier by piling on the soft blankets and using a sleeping pad. Pro tip: If you don’t like waking up with the early birds, bring a sleeping mask, too.
