Up on the blog today we are featuring our talented new Design Assistant, Eleni Palamidis. Eleni is giving you tips on how to transform your home for Spring.
With the warmer weather right around the corner it is just about time to prepare your home for this new change. The colors of the season changing, the days getting longer, the sun shining bright, and the outdoor adventures are all reasons to be excited for Spring! However, with the all the changes going on around us urges us to get our homes ready for the Spring too. It may seem quite stressful at first but make it fun, adding your own personal style and touch along with the Spring Season will sure create a beautiful room.
Swap out heavy bed sets for lighter colors and fabrics
One of the first things that you can do to prepare your home for the warm weather approaching would be to swap out the heavy bedding for a lighter fabric and color. During the winter, heavy colors and fabrics are greatly desired because as we all know we want to be comfy and cozy. However, during the Spring months, it’s quite the opposite.

Swap out heavy bedding with lighter fabrics such as sateen, batiste, voile, or even percale! Also, light colors can spruce up a bedroom and prepare it for the summer, try using whites, yellows, blues and greens. Having designated bedding for the seasons is one of the easiest ways to prepare your bedroom.

Break out the Spring Scents
One of my favorite things when the seasons change is to purchase new candles, air fresheners and soaps. Although Fall is personally one of my favorite “scented” seasons, (I’m sure many of you would agree with me!) , I also love the Spring scents to fresh up your interiors. One of my favorite places to shop for candles is Bath and Body Works, as they always have sales and a wide variety of options. So, it’s time to retire the balsam, pine, cinnamon for the refreshing spring and summer scents. Some of my favorite for the Spring Season include: Fiji White Sands, Vanilla Coconut and Seaside Daze.

Swap out heavy drapes for lighter ones
The warmer weather coming soon the sun will be shining for longer periods of times, a way to add some newer accessories in your home is to swap out your heavy drapes with lighter ones. A few benefits of incorporating lighter drapes are that lighter colors make a room feel bigger, lighter colors usually mean lighter fabrics which make the room flow betterm, along with that whites and neutrals are such a timeless color that you’ll be able to bring them out every Spring season because they will never got out of style.

Swap out your lamp shades
An easy way to change the appearance of the interior design of your space is to swap out the lamp shades. Just as we did with our bedding, swap out heavier shades with lighter fabric ones. There are so many affordable options too. And, it’s a great way to buy into a trend without spending big!

Bring Nature Inside
Bringing in Florals into your space literally yells out spring! Incorporating flowers into your home is such a fun and easy way to get into the Spring mood, even when it is still cold out and it’s transitioning into the warmer weather. One of my favorite ways to incorporate flowers is by adding a bouquet of flowers into the kitchen or the living room. These are the spaces in the home that we spend the most time in. You don't need a wallet-busting mega-arrangement to add luxury to your space either. A simple bouquet from the grocery store can be all you need to add sophistication. Besides, it's all about how you arrange the flowers and what vase you arrange them in. First, separate the bouquet by stem type then create several small arrangements to spread around your home. If that is still not in your budget, a pro tip is to have a look at the dollar store or even your local Marshalls for realistic faux flowers. Then, you can create your own bouquet, which is not only cost efficient but it’s also a fun craft. Grab a glass of wine and have a faux flower arrangement night with your friends.

Rearranging & Declutter
If you needed a sign to rearrange a room or declutter a cabinet, here it is! Looking at the same set up in your space for an extended period of time can get boring at times, so rearranging your bedroom or living room can always give a new feel with the same furniture, plus it’s free!

Getting rid of decorations or magazines that you’ve had around for a while can seem overwhelming, but it can also be fun. Replacing old and worn accessories with newer and fresher ones can really make the interior design of a room pop. Purchasing a new rug for your living room or adding a few greenery pieces to match the nature you’re bringing in are all great solutions to this problem.

One last suggestion on decluttering is to finally organize those cabinets that you’ve been procrastinating on! Need an inexpensive way to organize, go to the dollar store and purchase some colorful baskets to organize. This will not only make your storage organized but it can also be fun and brighten up your mood.
