H e l l o!
The verdict is in: Cozy fabrics, warm, earthy tones, vintage pieces and private spaces are taking over the fall interior design scene. At the start of 2020, many were forced to reconfigure their homes into multi-multi-functional spaces that could accommodate the needs of working parents and home-schooled children. However, the novelty of ‘work from home’ has worn off, and we’ve all had a year and a half to adjust to the new normal (oh, what we would give to never use that phrase again). As a result, the trends we’re seeing for fall 2021 reflect more permanent changes we’ve made to our homes as a reaction to the pandemic. The central theme? Comfort, convenience, personalized spaces and natural color.

Bespoke
Vintage, bespoke and personalized homewares are all the rage for fall 2021. When it comes to designing homes for the most discerning clients in the world, going above and beyond the norm comes as standard. Antique furnishings mixed with more contemporary pieces and a little whimsy go a long way to keep the look of your interior from getting too referential.

Naturally Inspired
Orange, red, and yellow are the conventional colors of fall, but designers are increasingly turning to other nature-inspired hues to create refined fall color combinations. I always gravitate toward warm, richer tones come the fall season, such as deep greens, blues, and browns. Although these tones might not be traditional for fall, they feel appropriate for the season when used in deeper shades with warm undertones.

Cozy
Coziness is key this autumn. The sun sets earlier, so there’s less need for open, sun-filled spaces. Designers now are crafting intimate spaces to conjure a sense of warmth and closeness.
Room dividers, layered rooms and reading corners have flooded Pinterest boards, becoming the third most-popular design trend of the season. Add division to your space with open bookshelves, lightweight curtains draped from the ceiling, or hand-woven rattan screen partitions.
