Up on the blog this week, we are discussing a very versatile piece of furniture. Floating, feeling lazy, and slowly drifting. This calm setting forms the inspiration for the daybed. Daybeds are for lounging, reclining and seating in common rooms. They are somewhat of a cross between the chaise longue, bench and a bed. If you are looking for an elegant, versatile piece of furniture to seat one or two? You may be in need of a daybed. We pulled together some options for how to incorporate the daybed into your interior design style.
The Midcentury Modern
Daybeds have experienced a great surge in the interior design community in recent years. You can find versions everywhere from West Elm to high-end designer showrooms. The iconic Barcelona daybed (shown below), designed by Mies van der Rohe, seems to have more in common with the bench than with other daybeds that look more like the chaise lounge. With no back, a tufted mattress-like seat and a simple neck-roll pillow, this sleek shape is a modernist's riff on the old divan form. But like other daybeds, it is meant to be floated in the room rather than pushed up against the wall and smothered in pillows.

Effortlessly Boho
To achieve an effortless boho lounge design, there are a few things to keep in mind! First, you'll want to incorporate natural materials, like a jute rug and woven fiber basket. To keep this natural look flowing, add a daybed with a nature-inspired carved pattern, like the Lovella bed from Anthropologie (below). Finally, keep the art simple but bold, like a framed tapestry!

Earth Tone With A Modern Flair
Mid-Century Modern pieces work together to make this office amazing. Neutrals and earth
tones work in harmony in this bright room bringing the outside into this design! Textures
share the design in the wall art and rug to make this a cohesive design.

Contrast Living
High contrast doesn't just have to be black and white. We love the use of warm neutrals with
fresh white upholstery for a classic and clean look!

A Mid-Century-Inspired Home Office
We love the mid-century design inspiration found in this home office. The clean lines. The neutral color palette. And we love that, with this daybed, this office can double as a guest room when the need arises!

The Classic
A sofa + a coffee table + a pair of accent chairs. The go-to living room arrangement creates a simple and pleasing balance and makes for highly functional seating. This daybed is a seductive temptress. The supple brown leather will make you want to relax in front of your window and take long afternoon naps. When you are ready to return to work, you will be energized and ready to carry on.
