As you may already know, here at Delia Designs, a couple of weeks ago, we discussed how to get the Interior Design of your home ready for the Spring. Up on this week's blog we are giving you some tips on how to get the exterior your house just as ready and have special “curb appeal”. Preparing the exterior of your home and giving it just about the same amount of attention and detail as the interior can really make all the difference. With these few tips, your interior and exterior will make your home the envy of the street!
Mailbox & House Number
An easy way to spruce the exterior of your home is the DIY mailbox! To some a mailbox may not be deemed as important, however a nicely designed mailbox can make all the difference in the curb appeal of your home. A few things as simple as adding a fresh coat of paint and some decals can spruce up an old mailbox. In addition, your house numbers can also become a DIY project for you. Updating your address numbers outside your home or even adding them to your mailbox or at the end of the driveway can bring the Spring feeling around.

Door Mats with Style!
Purchasing a new seasonal doormat will not only give your home that curb side appeal, it will make you feel happy every time you walk up to your front door! A fresh door mat with Spring Decals on it will really make the front of your home pop and will give some color where needed. A suggestion would be to purchase a doormat that coordinates with the Interior Design of your home so that the interior and the exterior harmonize! Not to worry if you are on a tight budget because one of my favorite places to shop for “Seasonal” decorative items is hands down, Marshalls and or Home Goods! They have an plethora of cute outdoor furniture and decoration to suit any style. Hey, check out this layered door mat look below!

Flower Power
With the Spring Season you can never have too many flowers, so why not include them at your front door. Flower Boxes are a really cool DIY project to do on a weekend. It's an opportunity to make the entrance to your home personal. Some of my favorites of 2019 are rain boots, Easter baskets and Wagon Boards. Creating a Planter with your own personal touch really makes it unique to your own home.

Wreaths
Wreaths are a staple part of the fall season, but why not include them in the Spring too? Again, incorporating florals to your curb side appeal will give a fresh and clean aura around your home. Walking the streets of Philadelphia, I’ve been admiring the wreaths on the front doors and I’m really loving this trend!

Last but not least, one of the best ways to increase curb appeal is to update your front door! Something as simple as putting a fresh coat of paint will give an older door a new look. Have some money saved for home updates, go ahead and purchase a new door. It is be a good investment and can actually help you save on energy costs. A trend that I have been admiring is the pastel door. Talk about a Spring Update! Taking some of the ideas from above such as adding your address number or the wreathes can also make your exterior more appealing and “fresh”.
