Up on the blog this week, it's all about settling in at home. Many of you are now working from home for the first time so I thought it would be a great idea to share some thoughts on how to settle right into your home environment without missing a beat. Productivity flourishes in environments where creative thoughts bloom, distractions are minimized, and healthy atmospheres invigorate us. Read on for some of my interior design survival tips.
Business Unusual
How is your home office set up? Did you throw it together? Your home office needs to be functional first, and as long as you can work in it, it's doing one basic job. But having a beautiful office can actually increase your productivity as it becomes a place where you love to work. Yes, it can be time-consuming to sort through extra clutter that might be in there, but it's important to create a dedicated space that inspires you. You might be surprised just how far a few touches go to make your space both comfortable and appealing. Maybe your office is just a little lackluster and needs a few interior design touches, but not a complete overhaul. It's always worth spending some time to add your personal touches to a space. Lamps, clocks, wall hangings and throw pillows are just a few of the items you can add to impart some life to your home office. Here are a few of my interior designer favorites.
Featuring handwoven sea grass shade paired with a curved brass stand and iron base, this task lamp offers a unique design statement to your desk or nightstand.

How are your work-from-home outfits? I pulled a few easy, comfortable favorites together. What's great is that you really can pull together a camera ready outfit that has similar and repeat base pieces: tees and tanks on top with leggings, joggers, dresses...and jumpsuits (oh my)! I keep myself from feeling like I'm wearing the exact same thing every day by using the same base outfit, just a different outer layer! Don't forget to accessorize!

In today's frenetic world, it is more important than ever to create a calm and peaceful space that allows you to recharge. Consider scent and sound. It's not always easy to get up every morning shower, put on “real” clothes and push yourself to be productive and still take a lunch/coffee break. It is however important now to find a routine that works for you and stick to it as much as you can. We could all use ways to focus our energies into positive areas like serenity at home. It is what will get us through this tough time. Wishing you all health and hope.
